I think yesterday was a little bit of a coming out party for the kid. And I’m not even talking about what he did in the game. I’m talking about the effort he put in to every play. I’m talking about his attitude and words when he was interviewed after the game. Just listening to him speak gives you a sense of a young man growing up in front of our eyes and buying in, 100% to the things this organization is doing to bring Detroit a Championship.

He doesn’t sound anything like the kid we’ve all heard in the past and the growing maturity is a damn good look on a young man who seems to be figuring it out. He and Amon Ra in the end zone together with those smiles and that dance and the look of guys COMPLETELY on the same page and willing to do anything for each other to accomplish their goals as a TEAM felt “special” yesterday to me.

The NFL is loaded with “star” type receivers all across the landscape. What it’s not loaded with is guys like Amon Ra, who outworks EVERYONE on every play and demands more from himself and those around him. I think he leads by EXAMPLE. And I think every guy on that roster sees what he does and it inspires them to do the same. Yesterday I thought you could really see what the example has meant to the student and it was incredibly good to feel legitimate confidence that Jamo is past whatever “questions” we have all seemed to have since BH drafted him.

And man, you GOTTA love that smile.

His interview with Dannie Rogers after the game on the field was perfect and selfless you’d think he was a 14 year grizzled vet who has been to several Pro Bowls and seen it all. He was quick to praise his teammates and keeping his eyes on the ultimate team goals. I definitely noticed a difference from his early days when he was a shy kid. He’s always remained humble.
