The JD reign will go down as one of the most disappointing, disorganized, and dysfunctional reigns in jets history, mark my words

He missed on a top 2 pick, wouldn’t move on from the failure of a pick, didn’t get a real back up for your 38 year old qb, got fake weapons that are all shot/old/trash, has found a way to create a team that is completely dependent on the miracle of a 39 year old qb making a full recovery and fixing all our problems on offense. Didn’t sign any o line to help our qbs, didn’t draft an o lineman, didn’t draft wrs for this year, didn’t sign a qb to compete with zw once arod was hurt, didn’t trade for any talent or qb at the trade deadline. And found a way to make the team so scared of pissing off arod that no coach, player, or water boy Aaron likes will be fired/ held accountable after this season is over. That is insanity, that is not how an actual organization runs.

He had some of the right ideas and what seemed to be a good vision for how the team would be built - but hasn’t been able to execute.

We are unfortunately approaching the end of every panicking GMs tenure where we trade future picks for aging veterans and knee-cap the team’s rebuild and I think Woody should be very cautious about throwing good money and draft picks after bad.

It might not be successful on one side but it hasn’t been dysfunctional at all, nor disorganized.

The OL, which he he tried but in drips and drabs to improve, is still bad but he did spend draft capital and cap on it. This is his biggest flaw imo.

At the end of the day, the NFL is built for parity. I won’t speak on Hockey, but compared to the other major North American sports and especially compared to soccer, NFL franchises are giving the most “rope” to build a competent team out of any sport.

And that’s all I’m talking about, competency. Not super bowls, not playoff wins, not even a playoff appearance. Just a winning record.

4 years is an eternity in the NFL. If this was a MLB rebuild, we would expect better results after 4+ years. Teams build and lose SB windows on 4 years. And despite absolutely fleecing teams like Seattle and Carolina (gaining two firsts and a second, almost a free draft worth of top picks), the Jets are still looking at another losing season.

I doubt JD, Saleh, or even Hackett go anywhere. They gave the built in Rodgers excuse. But by any metric of success, JD has failed. Giving him a 5th full offseason is extremely risky, but most likely inevitable.
