I’ll preface this stating openly that it is a general observation from very much an outsider, and I’m going into this fully expecting to be called out from some. I have broad shoulders. So be open, honest, and don’t hold back if I’m completely off base.

From time to time I come on here and I get an overwhelming vibe that people are fully in “the sky is falling” mode.

While I’ve been a fan of the Bills since '97, I’ve not been the same level of emotionally invested as many/most of you. My life isn’t football. But yes I do get frustrated when I see opportunities abandoned, missed, not taken. I guess I’ve always been more of a “hell, the coaches know better than I do” kind of fan. And I genuinely appreciate every effort made (good or bad) in the spirit of doing right by the team, rather than meeting the bottom line money-wise.

Genuine question; how frustrating is it for others when you hear “couch coaches” calling for Dorsey to be sacked, telling Allen to do one thing or the other (just to be called out and told to do the opposite the following week), or when people make comments that the team are going to hell in a handbasket when they win a game but in a non-dominant manner?

I live in Australia and follow Aussie Rules football also. Love it. But one thing I think the game suffers for is football media. Thankfully I live in a state outside where AFL is over-represented in media.

Do you think the game, teams, fanbases or individual players suffer for the influence of NFL media? And, what level of responsibility do you think the media should take for holding fans to account for completely debased theories about why teams are not delivering?

I think that despite Chris Brown and Steve Tasker’s direct involvement with the Bills and the open and reasonable bias toward being Bills fans, they actually do a bloody good job of keeping Bills fans in line and not being tempted to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Any and all opinions appreciated.

I think a good part of it comes from the fact that a lot of Bills fans only really watch and follow the Bills. When you’re that hyper-focused, you lose perspective on the fact that the Bills are still a very good team compared to the rest of the NFL.

Yes, they’ve had some ugly games, some injuries, and they’re figuring out their best plays on offense. But don’t forget this is largely the same team that beat the Dolphins by 4 TDs. We literally played our best football early in the season last year and look how that turned out. Let’s hold back on pushing the panic button until there’s a serious chance of them missing the playoffs.

You should come visit r/chillbills :) It’s great when you need a breather from the more dramatic mafia haha

In all seriousness - I think a lot of the worst drama doomers are bandwagoners of the past 3-5 years, with MAYBE a dash of younger long time fans. Point being they’ve only ever known a good Buffalo team, and have no frame of reference from the draught era to mentally compare with.

Tasker and Brown are trash. Listen to Joe Marino on Locked on Bills and Bruce Nolan on Buffalo Rumblings

I think the media has a ton to do with it, both sports media and social media. But i might be showing recency bias since it was a topic of discussion 3 separate times on espn today (regarding our expectations of Josh allen/bills, the Dallas cowboys, and Anthony Davis)
