Only in the last few games. The last three to be exact. His three worst.
Kenny’s foibles are exacerbated by the expectations of being a first round draft pick sold to us as the second coming of Dan Marino.
No I didn’t want Kenny. I thought Mason has done enough to play at least one full season out from under future HOFer Big Ben. I wanted the Steelers to build on the running game, O-line and draft a QB that could work his way in gradually. Pickett was handed the keys to a storied franchise without question. Even Bradshaw had to go through some tough times before being anointed the greatest Steeler QB of all time. Maybe with some nurturing Kenny could be that guy but as of now he’s the worst QB in Steeler history and the NFL. It may not be fair as he was thrown to the lions but it’s a fact. Tomlin needs to balls up, admit Kenny isn’t it for now and move on.
I remember being intrigued by the pick, but I’ve also thought that Pickett should be on a shorter leash. He was envisioned as a low-risk but NFL-ready QB, and he was also older than most blue chip prospects. Personally, I think he’s the kind of player that you start right away and see what you have.
I thought he showed flashes early next year, but Pickett never quite showed what I was hoping for. I don’t think he would be quite as bad under a better OC, but still essentially a backup-level QB.
Look he is second string, nothing greater. He isn’t the answer. Hell I know I am old school but there are not enough elite QB’s in this league.
It was 8 or 9 starters between Bradshaw and Ben. I do not think Kenny has ‘it’. Not giving up on the Steelers but another QB is needed.
I didn’t care for him pre draft I always hoped he worked out but I did think Malik Willis had the most upside that draft. I still hope he works out
I go through life without expectations, so honestly, I won’t give up on Pickett until he is literally not on the team anymore. Honestly, everyone should want him to turn it around, it’s not like we’re getting a new better QB tomorrow.
I was never on the hype train, but I think drafting him was a good bet given that we basically never draft very high so won’t likely get a shot at a generational talent.
Getting Ben was us getting incredibly lucky with a great draft class and stupid decisions by teams like CLE.
So having an opportunity to draft a guy who was seen by most to be the best in the class (even a weak class) was a reasonable bet.
But most QBs fail and I’m an “I’ll believe it when I see it” kind of guy. And I haven’t yet seen it from Kenny.
I still think he should get next year unless a great prospect falls to us. But I don’t think he’ll end up being an average starter.
