Hey guys,

So basically I accidentally clicked on some dodgy website link, and immediately upon entering there was a pop up window that appeared for like 1 second before disappearing. I got paranoid, so I tried entering the same website on my PC (I have ESET) and it told me it terminated connection to: JS/Redirector.QKM Trojan.

Now I’m really scared if my phone could have gotten infected since it didn’t have any antivirus protection? I didn’t click on anything on the website itself and obviously didn’t download anything, but still, I heard of cases where websites can automatically download malware into your device and Android phones are not exactly immune.

What should I do? Factory reset? Could my files/passwords have gotten compromised? Am I just being paranoid for no reason? Thanks in advance…

Unlikely unless there was a vulnerability in the OS. I don’t know if you’ve ever installed an APK manually but you need to confirm with package installer before you do that, so if you didn’t, the only thing that could have happened is maybe your browser got an extension installed. Even then, the browser is supposed to ask for confirmation. If you installed an unknown app, you might have a problem; if not, you’re probably fine. If you don’t notice any weird behaviour on your phone, I don’t think there’s probable cause to suspect you got malware on it.

I’m no tech wizard, but I’d just clear my cookies/history from whatever web browser was being used. I’d think that as long as you didn’t enter any passwords/login into or personal info, then it’s ok
