The drafting of Najee Harris and then Kenny Pickett in the first rounds are looking worse and worse as time goes on. I’m not a Kenny hater, or even a Najee hater. I am still holding out hope for Kenny and I think Najee is a situational back, but I can’t help but feel like we wasted our first round draft picks two years in a row. Kenny showed promise but has seemed to regress.

I’d like to see how many HOF’ers he drafted vs other GM’s during his tenure, not saying he didn’t have some misses but c’mon

He was definitely a good drafter early on but lost his magic. I said the last two years but honestly how many 1st rounders didn’t pan out the last decade or more. TJ Watt was the exception.

I mean 2021 wasn’t great but I’d argue it’s still too early to tell with most of the 2022 draft class. I think it’d be better, and more accurate, to say that over the past decade Colbert hasn’t drafted well in the first round.

If Colbert gets blame for drafting then Tomlin needs just as much blame for not adjusting the scheme to the talent.

You don’t draft someone like Artie who was strictly a man coverage corner to come in here and play mainly zone. But this isn’t even a case of panic or drafting for a position of need because Howard, Bradberry, and Fuller were still on the board.

So the talent evaluation was clearly lacking.

I love what Tomlin has done for the team and I still think he can get this team back on track. But he can’t be blameless in this IMO.

    Freimuth over Creed Humphrey too.

That draft was a mistake going for two skill positions even though we needed lots of help on the OL.

But I think we did it for Ben after demanding he take a paycut.

More like final 5 years. The best draft was 2017 and other than Watt we let all the quality players go

It just never made sense to get your skills players before fortifying that line. Even this year we could have had Dawon jones at RT and Broderick at LT and creed Humphrey In the middle at center. Jaylen Warren is proof the Najee pick was pointless

You are correct. Both Kenny and Najee were overdrafted. It’s not their fault.
