The car is stuck on defrost

Got my car in a small online auction a week ago and the defrost is the only thing that works. It’s a 2014 Ford Taurus former police intersepter The button light changes but defrost is the only thing that works. I can change the temp and how strong it is but can’t change it from defrost to anything.
