Valve is always late and always “cooking.” Outside of the new hero trailer at TI, I have not been “surprised” by Valve at all this year.

If I were doing a performance review for Valve, it would be that Valve is consistently below expectations.

This year in a summary:

1. Map was greatly expanded, with some new objectives, and some new interactions. Heroes and gameplay were NOT balanced for this larger map.
2. One new hero and 3 reworked, a couple new items (with only blood grenade actually being viable and interesting) and BKB being reworked.
3. Dota 2 10 year anniversary “event” of reskinned/colored immortals, released months after said anniversary
4. Behavior Score Update - immediately iterated on a few times, seemingly abandoned after that. People abusing the unlimited reports, and a blatant lie of the separation of communication score from behavior score (communication score cant be higher than behavior score, so they end-up always being the same)
5. TI Compendium - Loading Screens and some voice lines - essentially reused content
6. New Profiles - Something that no one asked for - that are just a glorified item showcase and reduces the ability to find smurfs
7. A onetime smurf ban, with no ramifications for people being reported for smurfing in the new behavior score update
8. (As someone that went to TI) First day, audio and video were constantly cutting off at the event, or volume was too loud or insanely quiet. The AC was on max and the arena was around 40 degrees F. Most people had layers of coats and hats. Most of the food stands were closed and the ones opened ran out of food. No organized TI events/things besides a handful of sponsored booths.

Now compare this to any other “game as a service”

Epic games had X new battlepasses and 2 new seasons?

League of legends has had numerous events, cosmetics, and regularly releases champions and content for the game. (I know their balancing sucks, but still)

I’ve put some thinking about all these facts and this is my subjective opinion: 1.The international feels just like some champions league tv show, where we will never going to play like that or find team playing like that. 2. The only tangible or remotely close were those items that make our favorite heros to play even more . 3. The battlepas was like a Christmas morning, you have to spend to get what you like BUT making a separate event for a battle pass is something i could even like more, have more time to play and win stuf. So it s ok that they made some separate stuff and focus on 1 thing at the time.

Just because you’re happy doesn’t mean we should be. Fuck off. We should be getting our money’s worth, same as you would on a different scenario.

Let’s look at the cold, hard facts for just a minute.

Mom said peekaboo. And it was great, we all got a LOT of mileage out of that. She’s been saying it for years, and there’s really no one in the business that says it like her. But now? Her hands are where her face was.

She’s gone. She’s never coming back, and honestly I’m starting to wonder if she was even here in the first place? I can’t remember, but I’m certain that we’re going to have to fend for ourselves from here on out. We’ve been abandoned, and that’s just the facts.

It doesnt make sense to not have a Black Friday sale or chest. They have so many good sets in the workshop and they are holding them for when?

There should be a new chest every few months, not twice a year. They even have someone finding trash sets for Dota+ every season, why cant they find good sets for another chest?

i like skins in video games but i also want to only buy the ones i want. i hate valve fomo gambling bs opening treasure nonsense and locking aracnas at 200$ + spending in battlepass. its predatory and i am glad they got rid of it.
