Is there a format/setting that makes matchup luck less impactful to the overall standings of the league?

I run a .5 PPR, 12 team H2H league. 7 teams makes the playoffs, 1-seed gets a first round bye.

The team that led the league in points is going to miss the playoffs with a 5-6 record because every week they got unlucky and faced a team that went off. In the future, is there anyway to combat this?

A lot of fantasy football comes down to luck, but this seems like a bigger issue.

In my league, the 6 seed is determined by highest points scored out of the non top 5 teams. So your friend with the most points at 5-6 would be given the 6 seed
