You’ll have ev converts when and if

    1. Cars cost under 30k
    2. average range is 450 miles a charge
    3. charge time is under 20 mins for 80% capacity

We’ll get there . But a lot more work ahead

    Legacy auto strategy:

    1. claim EVs can’t make viable cars
    2. When proven wrong, claim it’s only a niche product for the rich
    3. When proven wrong, say they’re not profitable
    4. When proven it can be, produce EVs that still lack compared to your ICE vehicles, keep prices high and make sure NOT to invest in charging
    5. When sales falter as people realize they do need a charging network and interest rise, claim it’s because customer demand is faltering.
    6. Up next those pesky EPA rule…

We simply have a lousy choice of EVs in North America outside of Tesla. My wife and I were talking on Saturday what our next ev might be to replace our gas Mini S. We were thinking of a Fiat 500e 42kwh version. My friend at the dealer said they are expecting mid 40k CDN for it minus the 12k of rebates ok not bad but then I’m like at that price point I might as well spend a bit more on a Model 3 SR… To me the “rebate” is moot because it’s not money that I have or actually see. OEMs can fuck with MSRP And totally do to reap the rebate benefits.

If BYD or MG sold their models here I’d have an MG4 LR in my drive

Ford is scaling back its $3.5 billion investment in a Michigan EV battery plant due to slower-than-expected EV demand.
The company will cut jobs at the plant from 2,500 to 1,700 and reduce battery production from 30 to 20 gigawatt hours annually.
Factors for this decision include demand, affordability, and business sustainability.
