We could sit here, look at the stats, and then come to the surface level conclusion that he’s just straight up terrible in the 4th quarter/ 3rd down. But we all can see how this whole team breaks down in the 4th including the defense and the play calling. It doesn’t do anyone any good if you aren’t gonna look into why his stats are bad in the 4th quarter and 3rd down other than “he’s a bad QB”. That doesn’t get to any sort of solution nor does it pin point the problems on the offense or with the QB.

Why his stats are bad is because he’s an inaccurate qb who can’t read nfl defenses and when he can’t rely on his legs he crumbles.

Its the answer to the question of why when people look at his 170 passing yards with 4 turnovers and go well actually he had 270 total yards because he ran the ball! And yards are yards…while they also complain about going run, run, pass on the game losing drive.

Running is great, if you can pass the ball first. It’s why Steve Young is the only running qb with playoff success. Though hurts certainly played great in the super bowl, even if he didn’t exactly get much competition from the giants and qbless 49ers in getting there.

You know as well as I do that fields td % is going down and is inflated by two games and then getting injured. His int rate has been the same throughout his career. His 3rd down and 4th quarter struggles have been the same throughout the year.

Mitchell put up 8 touchdowns across two games too. Its not the sign that he’s suddenly someone new. He is who he has been for 3 years. A bad qb with great legs who can make a highlight throw or two or three a game. But across 32 starts he’s got 2 or 3 solid 60 minute games. Depending on if you consider the Washington game where he barely completed 50% of his passes a good 60 minutes or not.

The solution is to stop being off set. Get a new gm, new qb, new hc. They get 3 years to win a playoff game or keep rolling the dice until you get it right. This entire oh it’s not fields it’s getsy. Its not poles it’s eberflus. Doesn’t benefit anyone but the lions, packers, and vikings.
