if you remember, how did you feel after watching it? did you like it, love it, hate it? was it so-so? unfortunately for me, i was born almost 4 years after the show premiered lol.
It was amazing. It filled a gap Beavis & Butthead had left behind and way beyond that. I remember everybody at school trying to do the voices and shouting you bastard to teachers.
I wish I could’ve. But I was barely 2 years old then. And I doubt we could get South park in India in 1997.
Saw the VHS Pooner tape before it was a show.
I watched the first episode (clip?) on a computer from some sight where it to 30 minutes to download. I think it was before it was on air, but yeah 1997
I had to wait till late 1998 to see it because Comcast did not include Comedy Central in the town I lived in at the time, which was ironically named South Park.
Any other Swedes here? I’m not sure this is right but IIRC here in Sweden they aired it without subtitles. No idea why.
(Luckily, we’re not like Germany or France and many other European countries where they dub everything so we get the real voices.) So we usually get subtitles but I think South Park aired without them. Can anyone comfirm?
And I think the show was immediately popular but pretty controversial. Simpsons already existed but I guess overall in the 90s, animated generally meant it’s for kids. Maybe That’s why they didn’t subtitle it bc they didn’t want kids (who hadn’t learned English) to understand? Idk
South Park paved the way for shows that made comedy central into a giant in the cable tv world. Man Show and Chappelle Show would’ve never existed. Flip Chappelle Show and SP around and Dave would’ve been canceled after the first show back in 1997.
