That’s what always bugged me about the EV market. Not that I don’t think EVs will never be the mainstream (we can only run our economy on dead dinosaur juice for so long). But hybrids should have been the next logical step. We just don’t have the infrastructure in America to support a large EV population. I’d rather have a hybrid with a good electric range but with the option of an ICE for those times I’m no where near a charging station or I can’t wait around for an hour.

    “Elon Musk lost $28 billion”

    Oh no, anyway…

But the reason EVs aren’t selling is due to their cost. Why buy a $70k EV with so-so features when you can buy an ICE vehicle for $50k with more features?

I do agree with him and think that EVs don’t make sense for lots of people, from the cost of them to having to wait long to charge… I think hybrids are the better medium especially since Toyota has developed and perfected them for quite a while and although EVs have been around for a bit, I feel like they aren’t there yet… although this might change with the next-gen solid state batteries, it’s too early to tell (since they will probably be priced outside of most folks budgets)

Toyota is the best selling brand for a reason. Everything they sell in their perspective categories is best selling and most come with a hybrid or plug in hybrid!

Toyota’s chairman and former CEO, Akio Toyoda, has long been a skeptic of the electric vehicle hype train—it was a big reason he stepped down from the top job at the Japanese carmaker earlier this year. Now, he can finally say, “I told you so.” With Elon Musk’s Tesla reporting disastrous third-quarter earnings last week, investors are realizing that EVs are no silver bullet for profit. “People are finally seeing reality,” Toyoda said on Wednesday.
