I wasn’t a fan the first two years. I understand the players have always liked him. However, the rotations were a mess and the offense was stagnant. But towards the end of last year he started to figure some things out. Subbing Cole to play with MF first to get warmed up before it turned into the Cole show, giving Franz and Paolo each a turn as the guy while the other rests. The relations have been good to great this year. Starting Goga when Dell went down may not have been obvious to everyone, as I’m sure some questioned why Moe W simply didn’t slide into the starting spot. Lastly, he is constantly talking on defense. That voice you hear on tv screaming, “show your hands!” That’s coach. Players are bought in. He still makes mistakes (gotta work on throse challenges) but he’s growing with this young team. COTY typically goes to the HC of a team who makes an unexpected leap, and if we keep up this pace, that’ll be us.
