When you blame the coach and turns out he was right about the trash roster 😢

Nurse firing was a mix of several things, even if I agree with the firing, there was definitely an element of FO scapegoating onto Nurse

He did lose the locker room, and likely did not have a good relationship with Scottie either

He also was right about the bench players, and refused to play them, putting him at odds with the FO

Is Nurse a bad coach? Not at all, he knows what he is doing, and he also didn’t want to be in a rebuilding situation

It was best for everyone to move on

Maxey will likely carry Embiid further in the playoffs than Harden ever could also

The real problem with this team however is FO’s asset management and lack of talent

Flynn, Boucher, Mcdaniels, Thad, and Temple would never get a job anywhere else in the current NBA, and Otto is a borderline fringe NBA player at this stage of his career, that’s literally 5 to 6 players on the roster, several of whom get a lot of minutes, who don’t even belong in the NBA talent pool

All of that happened because of a failure of asset management by the FO and MLSE

People can hate on Darko, or Scottie, or Siakam, or Dennis, or OG, or Gradey, or GTJ, or Purtle, all they want, but none of these people were responsible for the talent bleed and loss of picks the FO put Raptors in position for

Nurse didn’t have much of a better record by playing his starters playoff minutes and he unequivocally hindered the development of some players and the bench as a whole
