This is a common occurrence for me since I don’t have much time to play. I often get about halfway through and then stop playing for months. When I come back to it I always want to start from the beginning and then the cycle happens again.
One example for me is Fallout 4
It hurts reading this, I concur. I think for many of us, the idea of an open world when we were younger was so intriguing, but past 30, and with this whole ‘life’ thing happening, we’ve gotten more enjoyment out of quick thrills like dungeon crawlers, rogue-likes or FPS.
So you’ll climb that mountain, enter bleak falls barrow (AGAIN) and then be like; meh
