Let me just preface this by saying that as a lifelong broncos fan now living in NYC, the Jets fans I knew were absolutely insufferable this off-season so maybe this is a bit sweeter for me than others. Everyone in Denver remembers how much hype there was around Rodgers to Denver. Now two years later the Broncos/Wilson still aren’t perfect and not to beat a dead horse but I think it’s become abundantly clear that Hackett was the real issue in Denver last year.

During that time Wilson took massive heat, was attacked by people even within this fan base but still defended his coaches and teammates like a true professional. Compare that to when things go bad around Rodgers and it’s everyone else’s fault (unless he likes you), blasted across every talk show in the country. It’s been that way since he was on the Packers. Now the Jets and their fan base are realizing that their already anemic offense somehow took a step back even after bending over backwards to overpay all of Rodger’s guys. And instead of being able to definitively pull the trigger and fire Hackett like we did, everyone is wondering if Rodgers will allow his buddies to get fired. He’s gonna hold the Jets franchise hostage over his buddies and I’m glad we don’t have to deal with that, because I’m almost positive they’ll allow it to happen.

I didn’t wanna post a huge wall of text or devolve to ad hominem attacks on Rodgers but I could talk about this all day. Go America. Go Broncos. Go Wilson.

I think we would have had problems with Hackett and Rodgers.

When it became apparent that Hackett wasn’t the right HC the front office would have been afraid to fire him in case it led to a feud with Rodgers. If we were shit it would have created a big blame game in the building probably with some players thinking Hackett was just there because he was Rodgers buddy, meanwhile Rodgers would be blaming players, probably going on Pat McAfee making passive aggressive comments about the problems in the Broncos organization.

    Could have got ugly.

Me too. Russ might be corny but Rodgers seems to go out of his way to be unlikeable. Also, I’ve never heard of Rodgers doing any type of community work that doesn’t also involve him playing golf or jeopardy. Still cool he gives back, but it seems like he doesn’t do it as much as other NFL stars.

Rodgers wouldn’t have been here longer than 3 seasons I imagine so if his play had been subpar we would’ve parted from him maybe after 2 seasons.

Rodgers personality is disparaging but his accuracy on the field is one of the best still. When you’re winning games and division titles poor personalities are a secondary problem.

That being said i don’t believe a lot of teammates thought well of him and he comes across overly arrogant and edgy on podcasts like Pat McAfee. It’s hard to trust a lot of what he says, and I’m prone to think that he isn’t close to field ready as he’s making it sound

I didn’t like the haul we gave up to get Wilson, but I wasn’t a fan of going after Rodgers either. It seems the organization is too addicted to going after someone else’s star QB as opposed to developing their own.

Even after his injury, Rodgers is still kinda smug.

Russ has now had some adversity, probably the first time in his career, certainly the worst, and he is responding.

    He’s fighting back.

I’d rather have a fighter with 80-90% of the skill, than a priggish superstar.
