If LeBron clinches the first-ever NBA Cup, it’s a big deal for his GOAT debate. It would be a unique feather in his cap, showing he’s still dominating in an ever-changing NBA. It’s a fresh, standout achievement that other legends never had the shot at.
Now, throw in winning an NBA Championship in the same year, both at 39? That’s a game-changer. It’s not just about skill; it’s about longevity. Bagging both titles in one season would seriously shake up the whole LeBron vs. MJ debate, making even the most loyal MJ supporters rethink their rankings.
I voted yes because it should, but we know whatever LeBron wins would be diminished in favor of you know who
Mario Chalmers
They gonna undersell da Foook outta this tournament if bron wins. “It’s just a season chip” “Nobody was trying” “easy tourney schedule “if Bradley Beal was healthy…"
It’s been ova
If he makes the final and wins, haters will ignore it, if he loses, they’ll be quick to lump it in with his finals record
I think it’s clear the LeBron is either 1A or 1B in terms of the GOAT conversation and for sure he has a place in the Hall of Fame. The problem though is how the media and some of his haters created these narratives that perceive about LeBron, that he is a quitter, not clutch, etc and many people are buying in to those narratives.
they could name it after him
For most people winning 3 more NBA titles will make it, for LeBron fans he is already the GOAT. He is the best old player ever for sure, nobody playing at his age comes even close.
If we’re being real, it’s impossible to know until the tournament has history behind it. If we go 5-6 years and it’s still just some quirk, the yeah it means nothing, but if it ends up becoming a big deal later and guys start respecting it more then it honestly would a little bit.
I think the goat debate is essentially over. If you have Jordan as your goat, I don’t think there’s much Lebron could do to sway that. I don’t think the in-season tournament cup would mean very much by itself but it would be symbolic of his continued dominance.
Too soon to tell
