If they are going to fire Weaver it would need to happen sooner rather than later, you don’t want him making any deals once that Dec 14th date hits where players who signed are free to be moved if you are even remotely thinking of canning him.

It’s a terrible signal to the next GM if we fire Weaver now, it would speak to massive dysfunction in the org. He just got extended and then Gores all of a sudden loses complete trust in him? It’s already public knowledge that Gores went over his head in the coaching hire (for better or worse). I don’t see any reputable candidate wanting to walk into that situation where at any moment the owner could turn on him/take decisions out of his hands/etc. There is good reason to be skeptical of Weaver but gotta at least play the year out first if only for the optics for the next guy
