Remove both modes replace it with this one. You can que for 4 separate roles: tank, damage, support, 2 spots for flex, or all roles (where you’ll just get slotted into the only tank, only support, only dps or open role based on que times). So you’re guaranteed a tank and support, won’t get shit on for choosing a damage hero, because you have to if you’re in that role, and the two flex options can be two tanks, tank dps, tank support, 2 supports, two dps, support dps. They can freely change between all roles. If 3 tanks becomes a huge balancing problem then you can make it that you can’t do it, or just that selecting a third tank reduces each tank’s health (or maybe only each flex tank’s health).

Some comps feel hopeless to verse with only 1 tank, simply have flex switch to a tank. Some only need the one tank. Some exiting new combos will get created and counter combos on the fly. Que times will be reduced across the board. You will get games where you really need your flex dps to go tank but they refuse, but even now you get games where you need your dps to switch to something to kill the pharah or widow but they refuse.

If this gets solidified as the one main game mode, balancing may become easier especially for new heroes who may be really strong against any 2 dps combinations, but not if there were 2 tanks, or can’t deal with 3 support heals, etc.

What do you think? Would you like to trial this mode out for a week or two? Permanent? Bring back tank duos, trio, crazy comps, make the game fun and experimental again.
