I’m bronze in comp. I have 1300 hours in quickplay. So whenever I get asked to play comp with my friend I do it and end up smashing the enemy team. But I really only play a few games a season and some we’ll lose because I can’t do it all. I wouldn’t say everyone who goes hard is a smurf. But if they have a super generic name, the logo profile pic and no skins and go 50 - 0 then it’s 100% a “douchebag” is the correct spelling idk why people spell it “smurf”

Literally just play. Learning by playing is the best at first. It would be especially great if you had a friend you could play with, experienced or not they could help with understanding the details of what’s happening. Try out all the heroes as you unlock them. Eventually you’ll find someone you like.

One thing in this game is that certain heroes “counter” others. But it’s not just rock paper scissors because skill, luck, ping are also major components. But once you find a hero you’re liking the mechanics of look up on YouTube some tips and tricks guides and/or search for what match ups that hero is bad against.

You’ll also be able to learn what role you should be doing (flanking in the back lines, causing a distraction, busting the tanks, sniping, keeping the highest damage hero alive vs keeping the other support alive vs keeping the tank alive etc)

It will come with time. But for now just try and work your way through and make fun out of shooting other people into dust. Glhf

  • You still have to climb to your actual rank in comp. So you may be in bronze but are actually diamond, but you have to slowly work your way up and up and up whereas you can get put with a wider range of people in quickplay but that are still closer to your skill level than all bronze/gold. When I was silver in comp because I didn’t play it much I would still get a gm in a game every now and then in quickplay. Mmr being different AND restrictions being less in order to get a game “quickly”

  • I’m excited for the potential future of the game. I hope this time next year we’re still on an upwards trajectory. It doesn’t even have to skyrocket, slow and steady upwards, gradually convincing people to stay/join, both players and devs. I’ll be able to play this for years of we can deliver on the current promises and trust in the idea that Blizzard’s new autonomy and goal to create good games not just money dumpsters is an actual thought, not just ashowerthought
