The NFL has DPOY, OPOY and MVP. MVPs are given to QBs almost exclusively now, so the OPOY basicslly non-QB MVP.

But if you think about it Defense is half the game, so DPOY in theory should be pretty high in MVP voting and usually aren’t

MVP in theory should be best player. It’s often best player on a top team. But offense & defense should be considered.

I feel like OPOY would be dope having someone like a Halliburton who I think is All-NBA but not MVP qualify for this award. Or maybe a year where Beal drops like 30ppg but isn’t MVP worthy.

OPOY could basically go to top scorer, or a guy like Trae/Halliburton who create offense.

I know some people don’t want more awards but this one makes sense to me

ALSO: I would like to see All-Bench team. 6MOTY seems to be celebrated more than ever now, would like to add a couple more guys. But only one team, no need for 3 teams like All-NBA or 2 for all defense.

One All-Bench team would kinda be cool, good mix of old and young too
