So, we pretty much all agree this team will need a true PG regardless of how Sochan improves his playmaking.

We’ll probably also need good defenders and players who can stretch the floor, like any team.

They’ll have probably 2-3 full seasons to draft, trade, train, to get to a competent roster.

It seems unlikely the team would have chances to sniff a Conference Final before season 3-4.

In the meantime, do you think it would be a good idea to recruit one or 2 vets for their experience?
Even if it was for say, 2 seasons?

In which case, which Vet(s) could be a realistic pick and fit for this team, assuming we have the assets to get him/them?

    To be precise, I don’t necessarily expect the Vets to have significant playing time.

    If they do, great, but my main requirement would be to be a vocal leader, a teacher, somebody who can lead and share experience, lessons only a good decade can teach: the small details, the little tricks, how to bend the rules, how to be smart, the “life hacks” in the NBA.

    Also, if one of these vets has been in a team that won a ring (even as a role player), that’s double bonus points!

    Depends on what they do in the draft, but my assumption is that Barlow is our backup 5 and earned it so we resign him OR we will draft someone like Sarr, so don’t need to go pursue a 5.

    I think we take a swing at Fultz, he’s still young, a great passer and good defensively.

    I think we sign a veteran wing as well, assuming we don’t keep one of Dougie/Cedi, but not sure who. Maybe someone like Saric or bringing Kyle back.

    It really depends on how the young guys perform though, if none of our young bigs pan out, then we will need a backup 5. We have so many picks too, it’s hard to have space for vets and not be stuck having to waive real talent or draft and stash picks.

      To extend on my own comment, 3 open roster slots, assuming we let Graham (non-guaranteed next year), Dougie and Cedi walk.

      Barlow gets one IMO, so without cutting guys I think could be good (Bassey/Champagnie) what’s enough roster space for our 1st rounders. Obviously, Bassey and Champagnie are able to be cut, but I’m still hoping they both hit and are amazing.

        I wouldn’t want Cedi traded. He might not be the best defender, but he’s a 27 y.o selfless vet who gets the job done every single time.
        Very consistent, stretches the floor, takes great shots, and makes them consistently.

        I like Barlow as well. Champagnie, not so sure yet, wait and see.

    LeBron. Finally hang with Pop with no expectations. Old enough to enjoy playing any minutes as long as there is Wemby and the chance to push a team back to the top one last time.
