After watching last nights game I’m convinced raptors have the better team but Tyrese was the best player on the court last night. OG was making Ill advised decisions with the ball (trying to dunk on jalen smith, trying to hit a deep pull up 3 like he’s steph). I don’t think he can be a go to on ball offensive player, but I think he can be one of the best 3&D guys in the league. I’m curious what everyone else in this sub is seeing with this team. Does Scottie need to step up? Do we need to get a better Center (Jakob continuously gets cooked on drivers and has no hops)? Is it just about buying into Darkos system more? We have the talent but I’m unsure what we need to take the next step moving forward.

I think Masai and Bobby will sit on their hands, re-sign both Siakam and OG to massive contracts in the offseason, and add one minor piece before the deadline by trading some of our bench to bring in a shooter

Why? Because that’s what they’ve done forever…sit on their hands, and I don’t expect them to change because Masai doesn’t sell low on players and right now Siakams trade value isn’t what it was a year ago

He’s only trading Siakam is he gets a haul

Next step is for Scottie to become unguardable one on one when scoring. He will never be a first option until he develops that kind of scoring ability

Trade Siakam or Barnes for shooters

Scottie looked extremely passive last night. Giving up with easy lanes to the basket and not trying to go over defenders in the paint consistently.

For some reason he’s lost a bit of the swagger he had earlier in the year. Luckily he’s knocking down 3s at a solid rate and Pascal is cooking inside, but Scottie just hasn’t been aggressive enough.

It’s meant OG having to work for a basket more late in the clock. When Scottie gets the ball with 10 seconds on the shot clock and Siakam isn’t on the court he should be working to get to his spot and either taking the shot or passing to an open player for a shot/layup. Right now he’s just swinging the ball a lot of the time and requiring someone else to create a shot out of nothing, and outside of Schroder and GTJ when he’s not cold, this supporting cast isn’t made for that.

It’s nothing new, this team’s ceiling moves with Scottie. If he stays where he is we’re a play-in team. If he can take a step and be consistently aggressive like earlier in the year, we’ve got a shot at the 4-6 seed.

Feels like Scottie started playing more passive when Pascal got more touches & the offense started running through him more, I wanna say since the game in Dallas if I remember correctly.

They clearly wanted to get P more involved in the offense but now Scottie is playing with the intention of fitting around Pascal, not being the best version of himself that he can be.

I’m not hating on either of them but I am 1 of the ppl who feel their fit just isn’t optimal & they can’t both be their best selves together. Not with this roster at least.

I think that’s just something Scottie will need to learn. Even when Pascal is on the bench Scottie has been passive so it’s hard to blame Pascal and him not fitting.

At some point in his career though Scottie will need to play at a high level alongside another player playing at a high level. I get Pascal’s lack of 3 point shooting, particularly this year, has made it a bit tougher, but it doesn’t excuse Scottie being entirely passive.

I agree with NervousAD3202 I think. They both aren’t good enough shooters to spot up off each other and idk but I rarely ever see them set screens for each other. Maybe its just a matter of giving them some time to figure out spots off rotations.

I think the reality is that Scottie actually really loves playmaking. While he can dominate on the court, he’d rather find his teammates.

This is fine and all, but it’s becoming a problem when you’re the player with the biggest physical advantages. You need to look for your own shot sometimes

We need to build on good play and see how we can get better.

Last night we played good but in my opinion, we didn’t play great, (it was a one point game and we almost blew it multiple times). If we played like we did last night we would still be a middle of the road team, that’s just the reality.

Continue to space the floor and continue to find ways to get the best look possible on the floor.
