Let us get to the point. There are several controversies which I believe give unjust hate towards Mojang. Before you scroll past, just read a little bit to see my point of view of this matter.

Firstly, people argue that their favorite mobs are gone forever. However, they are not gone. Mojang has stated that, aside from the first mob vote, all mobs from previous mob votes have a chance to make it to base game. They will probably be added in the near future (although this update was the best chance to add the copper and tuff golems).

Secondly, others argue that the mobs are too unbalanced in other previous mob votes. To an extent, this is correct. However, there are two points that go against this: 1) This mob vote wasn’t very unbalanced, with all of the mobs being mostly equal, and 2) this unbalancing in moderation can make it less hurtful when one mob wins while others fail. This makes the community less angry at the devs overall, which is what Mojang is desperately trying to do.

Lastly, there’s the argument that they should just add all of the mobs at once. The response to this has been said in many video essays, but I will repeat the message to you here: it’s much more complicated to add a feature with as many features as Minecraft has. The features have to be fully polished, tested, perfected, and on top of all of that, they have to fit in a satisfactory way into the game.

A SOLUTION:

The solution in my opinion is actually to stop the mob votes, as the system is not the best for community interactions. A much better system in my opinion could be the successor: A fanart subreddit to submit artwork or concepts, with one concept being chosen every update. This would make for less hate, as people would hopefully understand that there are too many concepts for them all to get added. It also gives people the opportunity to get their dream mob added into the game, albeit with a small chance.

The hate over the mob vote is pretty silly. Mojang was already doing kind of the same thing internally with their pool of potential mobs and just thought it’d be fun to have the community be part of that process. But instead the community decided to be toxic and ruin it.
