The Lions have had 11 games this season, and half of them have been awful defensively:

-vs Seahawks

-@ Ravens

-@ Chargers

-vs Bears

-vs Packers

The team is currently on a 3 game stretch of godawful defense. No pressure at all, secondary getting totally lost, everyone whiffing on tackles, it’s ridiculous.

This team is never going to be able to seriously compete with this embarrassment of a defense.

Instead of pointing out bad defensive games I ask that you point out GOOD games. Aaron Glenn has maybe 5 games over the past two years where you go WOW we were prepared and good. Otherwise our defense plays good enough against bad teams and gets absolutely exposed against any decent team.

The defense only allowed 6 points in the second half today. I’m not defending the bad performance but the first half of the year was great on defense. Is it a player problem or a coaching problem?

Glenn should be given his walking papers, but I imagine they believe he’ll be gone when the season is over with.

I don’t know why people think that firing Aaron Glenn midway through the season after he spent 3 years here w the players and team would magically catapult them into an elite defense. The armchair casual fans have no clue how much goes on behind the scenes that goes into a game plan and bad performance. They genuinely think other team scores = brrrr Aaron Glenn bad. I hate it here bro

Aaron Glenn isn’t the reason our CBs can’t cover anyone.

Aaron Glenn needs to be better at blocking and REALLY needs to stop turning the ball over

Yup, yup, yup! The offense has a bad night and we get our dick kicked. We had to ride the offense the last three weeks!!! When can we win a game due to our offense. When was the last time we had a low scoring win. Defense can’t do shit and it’s the same fucking story I. The Dan and Holmes era. Fucking fix it mother fuckers!

AGs defense is too conservative until it has no other option. It’s extremely predictable, and the emphasis of stopping the run over creating pass pressure is absolutely crushing us. There were many times during that game where Love got forced outside of the pocket, but instead of the defender turning up field to complete the pressure and force a bad throw or get the sack -you see the defender run parallel to the QB. In an effort to keep the QB from scrambling down the field we give up a big pass play. This league is pass focused, so you absolutely have to be able to pressure the QB. I refuse to believe that our pass rushers are not skilled or athletic enough to get to the QB when week after week I watch the let off the throttle in their pass rush to cover a run lane. This 1.5 gap scheme seems great at stopping the run, but it is incapable of generating a pass rush.

We need to go back to the 2 gap scheme so we can get our pass rush going.

Question, how does firing Glenn improve our defense?

Seriously, 8-3 season where continuity is important. We are risking that to create…what? This defense is clearly so talented that without Glenn, they can be a top 5 unit? Is this a joke?

We have relatively average talent and Glenn does an okay job putting it together.

If you think this is embarrassing, you need to stop self-hating and process your anger.

Or, like, at least a novel idea for what to do besides firing a guy. These takes are garbage.

Is that true though? How often do coordinators get fired?

It’s just some missing pieces. CJGJ was signed to sure up the secondary along with Emmanuel Moseley but they didn’t bother to replace them for the year. Hutchinson has to be frustrated (just like Aaron Donald for the Rams) as James Houston is still hurt and we could have gotten someone at the trade deadline for the opposite side but didn’t get anyone! I’ve said this exact complaint before and got roasted in the comments. “We don’t need to waste draft capital!” but Chase Young was had for a single 3rd round pick, something we could afford to spend so we get deep into the playoffs and possibly the Superbowl this year! To quote a great philosopher… SHIT HAPPENS! 😂. There’s no guarantee that a great team this year even makes the playoffs next year and we needed to fill those positions, I agree with you on the bad coaching or calls on defense but a good team is going to get after the weakest link.
