Trae had an all-nba in 2021-2022 year when Hunter, Gallo, Bogi, JC, and Huerter were all shooting above average from three? This is why I don’t get the complaints that Trae shoots too many threes or whatever. We need spacing and shooting on this team to unlock the best version of Trae and the best version of the Hawks possible. More shooting means more spacing means better play. It’s that simple. It’s how we went to the ECF.
I appreciate Trae trying to play Quin ball despite the shots not falling, they eventually will. I seen them fall before and they will again. Now the rest of the team needs to follow suit. Bogi is already doing it. Saddiq needs to shoot more threes. Onyeka whenever possible needs to shoot more. Dejounte needs to shoot more. Let that shit fly so this offense can get going.
Those guys were all there the year before too. And he was mediocre. Trae is just inconsistent. It has nothing to do with his teammates.
I just looked up how many threes Trae took with a defender within 0-4 feet of him last year and it was 1.9% of the time. Trae had a defender 6 feet or more away on 18.3% of his threes. And his FG% was as 38.6. Which was about league average last year.
