Googling a bit, it looks like boe sometimes produces panels for Samsung. I would assume they’re up to spec for Samsung to willing do that. I’m sure valve has some criterion that it must meet as well.
Unless someone comes out with real data on both screens, this might be overblown.
Quality control seems much higher on the Samsung. This thread has hundreds of posts and not a single example of a dead pixel on a Samsung panel. Meanwhile, BOE has dozens of reports.

Yes, there are. Samsung is known to have the best screens in terms of image quality. So this is a screen lottery that Deck buyers are playing.
