Personally I feel like Brent celek is the best one, although I could see the argument for Chad Lewis or even LJ Smith. Obviously Zack ertz is high up there maybe even number 1. And does Dallas goedert deserve to be in the conversation yet? What do y’all think?

Zach Ertz is probably the best player. Celek is a fan favorite. Dallas has chance to be the best one but his stats aren’t consistent (not to his fault). In terms of strictly skillset and not on stats, I think Dallas is the most talented one. He’s a great blocker and is great at making contested catches and can break tackles and gain a lot of YAC yards. Ertz is the superior route runner though.

Zach Ertz I grew up watching, I’ll never forget watching live in person the Foles TD pass in SB52. The second that happened me and my dad both had a feeling it was going to happen.

Chad Lewis made me appreciate the position, Celek made me love it.

If blocking is also part of the equation, then Celek over Ertz. If it’s purely stat based, then Ertz.

Celek is not often in the conversation for best since he was not a pass catching specialist. He was your more traditional tight end who could block very well and also catch passes. He never made a Pro Bowl, but he was amazing. Celek is one of my favorite Eagles of all time.

When thinking of the best tight end of all time, you need to decide what determines that. Do you go with the current evaluations of tight ends, effectively large receivers, or do you go more traditional where they are blocking specialists who are good at catching.

Goedert is up there, would be higher if he could stay healthy, since he catches well and also blocks well.

I’d put Goedert comfortably at 3 for now, but with obvious potential to move up. His stats might not quite show how good he is overall but he is an insane run, pass and downfield YAC blocker in addition to having some of the best route running and hands of any right end. I’d say 1) Ertz and it’s not even close, 2) Celek, 3) Dallas. Goedert gets a ring this year, he’ll easily move up to 2. I just think he has to find a way to play with his same physicality that he has now, but channeled a little bit smarter. Dudes a battering ram but sometimes, you just don’t have to get that extra inch

Ertz and the next closest is Celek with Goddert right on his heels.

IMO Zach Ertz is very overrated by most Eagles fans. He wasn’t much of a blocker, and generally only caught short passes. Tight ends should be “complete” players (able to catch and block or vice-versa) and if they are primarily/only pass catchers, they need to be consistent deep threats.

      I respectfully disagree

Ertz was reliable as they come especially in third down situations. He was basically our version of Jason Witten.

Witten could block. Most of the other Eagles players mentioned could block. Ertz couldn’t.

I’d say my top 3 are Celek, Ertz, and LJ. No order. Goedert is looking to replace Celek if he can stay healthy and keep the stats up
