That the LCD Steam deck is utter trash and the Oled is the only deck that matters?
While I find the new deck to be an A grade hardware revision… I do not think the LCD deck is that bad?
Sure the ally screen is better and we are not talking about the oled but I find those youtubber to always want more and chase the next big thing. Feels more like advertisement more than a proper review. I have an opportunity to trade my deck for an ally but I am in no rush to get rid of my deck.
Could we get a little LCD appreciation. It’s still a good little machine.

Bait for clicks. The LCD display has improved with the new color settings but the OLED model is still a drastic improvement in many ways, including battery life, viewing angles, and screen size. The only reason to get the LCD model right now is price. That $400 mark is hard to beat, but I think when they run out of LCD PCBs and screens we’ll see an OLED model at the $400 price point.
Yeah, to be clear, I was talking about everyone pissing and shitting themselves about upgrading. I see the appeal and,buying new, OLED is without a doubt a terrific bargain!
However, one of my friend said his LCD deck was obsolete and he shared me videos of digital foundry, taki Udon, ETA prime and the like and Im like: Dude, calm down. Your old deck aint gonna explode.
The lcd steam deck isnt awful but the oled steam deck showed us how “bad” the lcd one actually was. The lcd screen with its light bleed and battery life are the 2 biggest thing.
Also you seem to care too much what other people think about the device you have.
It’s more about a debate I had with a friend who argue that his deck was obsolete.
To be fair, I’m thinking about keeping mine more than trading it for an ally at this point.
The LCD isn’t trash. It’s great, and it probably isn’t worth upgrading if you already have an LCD. That being said, the OLED is objectively better in every single way, and is a huge improvment for almost no price increase. YouTubers are saying the same thing, at least, from what I’ve seen
It is always about “the screen” with people.
I have the Ally (at least, until it sells on eBay) and the LCD - with an OLED coming tomorrow. I’ve never found the Ally screen to be exponentially better than the LCD.
Heck, I’ve defended the LCD many times - it just isn’t the “piece of crap” that DF and the ilk like to pretend it is. It is an AVERAGE screen - no more, no less.
These bastards never used early Android tablets - lest they wouldn’t be complaining :D
