Mob Dropper with Looting III sword makes the best loot, and gives EXP, making the AFK mob grinder less relevant- but it still functions and is highly useful.

If you’re looking for the best returns for your time, or for the space used, you will prefer a mob dropper. But if you’re looking for some station you can visit on occasion and grab massive loot, you’d prefer the grinder.

Mob grinders are still very good, but in order to save time they are often built in such a way that you need to AFK in a specific location in order to work (to remove spawn locations). If you have to AFK in a specific spot anyways, I guess you may as well be killing with your sword for better drops right?

Mob grinders are best when you are able to build them somewhere where they will work 100% while you are moving around and working on other projects. Unfortunately this usually requires a very hole to be dug to act as a mob perimeter, which is obviously a much bigger task than just building the farm.
