I think it would fit our personnel a lot better.
Not to get to into schemes, but we would have Cam and Jerry play press on the outsides and covering above them, with Kerby playing “centerfield.” The Earl Thomas role.
You could then have Branch and Walker playing a bit closer the line, which suits their playstyle. Walker shouldn’t be playing as deep as he is, he’s a good player but doesn’t have great deep ball skills. He would be in more of a Kam Chancellor role.
This would allow us to still rush 4, and occasionally blitz Anzalone or Campbell.
I see us constantly in a high cover 2, giving TONS of cushion on the outside, and we’re getting absolutely torched on short out routes, as well as over the deep middle.

Here’s a good watch on how Tampa 2 essentially operates like cover 3
Not that I think you’re wrong
I personally don’t know if it solves the issue
GB beat us this week and there were about 4-5 times they just max protected and beat us with 2 receivers and a late releasing TE
2 receivers.
I think we need to make more of an effort to bracket WRs. Just stop the run and make them throw to not their favorite target in key downs.
Because rn our cover 3 is getting absolutely wrecked, quarters is wrecked and I think a large part is 1) Jerry jacobs is not a CB1, and 2) Kerby is not ready to cover centerfield as much as we think he is.
If only our coaches knew how to use youtube. Or just read the Lions subreddit, all problems would be solved!
I mean there’s a lot that goes into coaching a football team. I get that we can’t do it
But also we have enough to know what good coaching and bad coaching looks like
MNF what the eagles did to disguise cover 2 and drop defenders and really confuse Jalen at both intermediate levels and deep coverage shells was impressive. Also consider the elements made it difficult
And while the lions do “disguise” things it usually just a safety rotation and not creative. Also we will rotate safeties post snap from MOC to MOF and then just give up this

Just no one within 10 yards of two receivers on early downs.
It’s awful
Yes, that does look bad. Any idea the down and distance in that play? Only acceptable if it’s like 3rd and 20 or so.
