Messi is the greatest football player ever, but not the greatest athlete. I’m saying this as a guy who has watched 99% of his matches since his debut. Nole reminds me more of Ronaldo when it comes to mentality tbh. Similar mindset, work ethic and both are so damn clutch.

    1. GOAT Comparisons across era is tough

    2. GOAT comparisons across sports is ridiculous

    3. Comparing individual and team sports is silly

Cristiano Ronaldo in shambles for not getting mentions anymore in these GOAT athlete conversations.

Ronaldo playing in Saudi is dominating? Do you even enjoy watching sport? You literally shit on every single athlete.

Argentina winning the WC really hurt his chances. He still has the most followers in Instagram though.

Ronaldo deserves more credit. He might not be as complete or talented as Messi, but the man worked his ass off to stay at the top.

Boris wasn’t necessarily comparing the GOAT of each sports. He’s saying that Djokovic might be the most dominant athlete at the moment, which is a reasonable argument.

He’s also saying Novak is the most dominant athlete ever post-30s, which I agree with. Lebron isn’t necessarily better in his 30s than 20s, he just maintained his level. Brady is the only one that is similar.

Eliud Kipchoge deserves a mention in these conversations too. Dude set the world record for Marathon a week away from his 38th birthday. And it wasn’t some fake 10km 5km ‘marathon’ like most people would think 😆, it was 42.195km marathon.

Messi was still one of the best players in the world at 35, but he wasn’t as dominant as he was in his 20s. He wasn’t nearly as far ahead of the field as Djokovic is right now.

Dude… Messi wasn’t as dominant in his 20’s?? Messi won the ballon d’or 5 times in his 20’s. What are you even talking about 😂😂😂and then 3 more times in his 30’s (and he’s only 36)…

I’m not comparing Novak to Messi directly, but you’re dead wrong about saying “Tom Brady” is the only one who was dominant post 30’s and similar to Novak

They said Messi was more dominant in his 20s, basically you’re both in agreement.

It’s a fair comparison when you consider these are “elder” athletes competing at the highest level of their respective sport.

It is, but you can still put people in the category of all time greats in their respective sports, and considering these guys all played well into their 30s, you can compare that aspect of them.

What you can’t do is say one is a greater athlete than the other.
