Title says the take but here’s why:

Basically we’ve only had 1 good QB that we’ve drafted in the entire history of the team: Fran Tarkenton. And the only reason he really was good was because he was forced to break the mold of what a QB was allowed to do, or he’d be a corpse on the field. Put him in any system past ~1985, but with him in his prime, and he would struggle.

Outside of that who have we drafted that has actually been good? Culpepper arguably but he was injury prone and still couldn’t win much in the playoffs.

All the other QBs the vikings have drafted have been absolute crap or have made 0 impact on the team/league.

To me, if we use a 1st rounder on a QB it will be waste of a pick, and it’ll stay that way to me until proven otherwise.

We’ve hardly ever spent top draft capital on a QB. The main problem is we are too good and win too many games every year to get a top 3 pick.

Even outside of that, we rarely use our best pick to get a QB. We can’t really suck at something we never choose to do.
