After hearing some interesting answers to this question from a few companies in my network, I thought it’d be great to ask this question to other small businesses too.

There aren’t any perfect answers, just what is most relevant to your business.

Thanks in advance

Labor, to grow I need an intermediate+ DBA as that’s the work I’m spending most of my time doing and my more junior staff can’t do. But they’re going to be $75k-$90k here and I don’t think I have enough work to make that profitable. Tires of being stuck in that middle ground of needing help but not being able to afford it.

Yeah that balance is often a chicken and the egg situation. Is there a way that you could first bring on say an extra sales-related person who could give you some extra cash? I appreciate that that may depend on how much extra work you can take on.

Main thing for me has been external factors effecting my schedule and pulling my attention to “put out fires”. I’m a solo owner/operator and My business is only a little over a year old, few months back my mom passed away and it was a long complicated process to get her body/arrange service and I had to focus a majority of my time n efforts on all that. Did my best to keep up with clients and services, eventually the funeral happened and I was behind on work and had to rebuild my client base. It’s been a journey for sure, but I love what I do and I’m pretty good at it. Head down n back to work. Aloha

I’m sorry to hear that news, and understand how that would have impacted your business. It’s good to hear that you are getting back on track though, and I can see how your positive attitude is helping that process. Keep going!
