The last 5 games the Lions have played bad football. If we play this way in the playoffs we will be blown out.
The last 2 games, we were at home playing bad football teams. We made them look like Superbowl contenders with MVP candidate QB’s. Don’t get started about the offense… The only person who had a worse day than Goff was Ben Johnson, wtf was that play calling…
The actual play on the field is getting worse at a time when we need it to be getting better.
It’s ok to say these things… This isn’t SOL mentality it’s being honest about the product in the field.
I’m a big Dan Campbell fan, I love where this team is going, but we should expect more than what we are getting from this team.
Just win the division and get in. Idc what happens the rest of the season as long as we win the division. Probably not good enough to talk Super Bowl but if you host a playoff game you can make some noise.
I don’t understand why we don’t scoop anyone at the trade deadline besides DPJ. This is a team that’s okay with have an okay season.
Both games could have been easily won if we had a pass rush of any kind.
I don’t overhype on Lions’ wins, but I don’t blame people who do. Trash talk is part of the game, especially on social media. That’s what meme-war subs are actually for.
Still, even some of the wins have been sweaty and shaky. Stephen A. Smith helped and hurt the Lions by picking them for his number one on one week and then trashing them as fraudulent after their loss to the Ravens. I mean, at least it brought some attention to the team, and holding the public’s interest is vital for an entertainment business. But going too far with hyping the Lions’ success sets up having to walk it back later.
Because I love the Lions, but I can be objective, and they’re good, but they’re not that good. Not yet, at least. They’re still in a rebuilding era, and they’re better than they have been in a long time, but that doesn’t mean they’re an elite team that’s gonna knock down all the competition week after week. Some of the best Lions players, for all their talent, are young and need to get some more experience before the team is truly ready.
This Lions team is moneyballing it more than having a couple superstars carrying them. There are fantastic players, but the Lions’ successes have come and will continue to come from pulling together as a team, rather than waiting for an elite QB to emerge and save the day.
And I like that about this team. And, while I’m psyched about how well they’re doing, I know they still have a ways to go and that this season’s success is progress toward the real success that’s still to come.
So I won’t say the Lions are in trouble. They’re still moving upward, and I’m excited watching them do it. And go ahead and hype the team. Again, that’s part of the game, and it’s part of being a fan to do that for your team. But don’t buy into the hype too much. There’s plenty of work to do, and failure can be the best teacher, provided you learn from it. Which makes me think that even a loss to the Packers is just part of the upward climb.
I actually think the defense hasn’t been horrible these past few weeks. Combine it with lack of pass rush and how poor the offense has been and it looks worse than it seems. Definitely a lot we need to clean up if you want any serious playoff push.
We’ve just looked off since the bye week and can’t really tell why
Hopefully they get it together during the long week off because we have two games that should be easy wins coming up and if we lose those Minnesota might move past us
Remember when Dan said this was the time the real teams showed up?
What will all the bandwagon fans do if when Lions collapse continues and we get bounced in first round of the playoffs?
It’s a long season. Everyone slumps at some point. Everyone is healthy and we have seen them play really good football already. They are capable but they have to get the mojo back.
It starts and ends with Goff. He has to value the ball more.
Let’s wait until they lose two in a row before we really freak out.
This team is not supposed to be where it is right now. We have been over-achieving this season, and the past couple games are just the regression to the mean.
I don’t see any problems with dropping some games to good teams and division rivals. That’s football, happens every week.
We are still over-achieving for the year. And even if the team isn’t dominant we are still very good. I just enjoy the fact that this team is going to compete pretty much every week.
It took some awful reffing, and every break to go the way of the packers for them to win that game. And they still only won by 1 score. I am fine with this.
You expect more than an 8-3 team and first place in the division?
What fantasy world are you living in?
It IS ok to say these things. Everybody on this sub wants to only say BNL, FTP, etc, and that We’re the best team to ever exist in the world, and we’re going to win the Super Bowl and that we should give Goff an extension.
No idea why lions fans got cocky all of a sudden. There’s still a long season to go. We could go on a 4-5 game losing streak. Anything’s possible. It’s not SOL talk. It’s just possibilities. Even when I went to the thanksgiving game there were a bunch of asshole lions fans bullying innocent packer fans doing nothing wrong. Plus half the stadium left in the 4th quarter before the game was over. Wow great fans.
2023 lions look a lot like 2022 Vikings, good offense and an easy schedule but bad defense
I have been saying from the start of this regime that ben johnson is not the god you all think he is. This is Dan Campbells’ offense with a twist of BJ. He didn’t say anything about walking around with his pants off when Johnson was gone. He was worried when we were talking about AG leaving. Ben has not been nearly as creative as his “genius” mind makes him out to be… the offense is very predictable and a midocre defense will only get you so far.
But yes, it’s ok to realize we were ahead of shcedule and caught a bunch of teams off guard. And now that the NFL has seen us, they are adapting to a team with only good talent, not great talent, and learning how to exploit our weaknesses, which truly are everywhere.
