The last 5 games the Lions have played bad football. If we play this way in the playoffs we will be blown out.

The last 2 games, we were at home playing bad football teams. We made them look like Superbowl contenders with MVP candidate QB’s. Don’t get started about the offense… The only person who had a worse day than Goff was Ben Johnson, wtf was that play calling…

The actual play on the field is getting worse at a time when we need it to be getting better.

It’s ok to say these things… This isn’t SOL mentality it’s being honest about the product in the field.

I’m a big Dan Campbell fan, I love where this team is going, but we should expect more than what we are getting from this team.

I don’t overhype on Lions’ wins, but I don’t blame people who do. Trash talk is part of the game, especially on social media. That’s what meme-war subs are actually for.

Still, even some of the wins have been sweaty and shaky. Stephen A. Smith helped and hurt the Lions by picking them for his number one on one week and then trashing them as fraudulent after their loss to the Ravens. I mean, at least it brought some attention to the team, and holding the public’s interest is vital for an entertainment business. But going too far with hyping the Lions’ success sets up having to walk it back later.

Because I love the Lions, but I can be objective, and they’re good, but they’re not that good. Not yet, at least. They’re still in a rebuilding era, and they’re better than they have been in a long time, but that doesn’t mean they’re an elite team that’s gonna knock down all the competition week after week. Some of the best Lions players, for all their talent, are young and need to get some more experience before the team is truly ready.

This Lions team is moneyballing it more than having a couple superstars carrying them. There are fantastic players, but the Lions’ successes have come and will continue to come from pulling together as a team, rather than waiting for an elite QB to emerge and save the day.

And I like that about this team. And, while I’m psyched about how well they’re doing, I know they still have a ways to go and that this season’s success is progress toward the real success that’s still to come.

So I won’t say the Lions are in trouble. They’re still moving upward, and I’m excited watching them do it. And go ahead and hype the team. Again, that’s part of the game, and it’s part of being a fan to do that for your team. But don’t buy into the hype too much. There’s plenty of work to do, and failure can be the best teacher, provided you learn from it. Which makes me think that even a loss to the Packers is just part of the upward climb.
