Honest answers appreciated. I am at best a casual football fan. Didn’t grow up in a football family. I only really got into it about 12 years ago or so when my son did. Hines, Troy, Jerome, Ben, Heath… they were just fun to watch and I got sucked in. I don’t play fantasy, and other than the obvious positions and special teams I don’t really know much about the various positions. The only play I really know is the jet sweep, and I just learned that this year reading all your comments lol. Pause while I revel in the hate of you superfans haha. Now, I’m not dumb enough to think 1 game is going turn the tide, but what will you all be looking for tomorrow to justify Canada getting axed and KP sticking around?

Watchable football. It’s been damn near unbearable thus far.

I’m looking for KP to prove he’s the guy and Canada was the problem. On the other hand if he goes and plays like shit again I’ve got to give him two or three games adjusting to what really should be a revamped offense altogether.

I expect a higher usage of Jaylen and less usage, or more efficient usage of Najee.

I expect more routes designed for GP.

And honestly I want to see us use Darnell Washington more… the dude is huge. If we could ever get to the RedZone he should be a feature player down there.

The Darnell use has irritated me all season. He is such a mismatch, but they’ve targeted him like 5 times. Think he’s averaging about 8 yards each. Once a game maximum. I’d like to see some Darnell releasing off a block for a quick dump pass. Make defenders wonder if they actually got past him, or they about to get punished.

When we drafted him I was so psyched I thought it was such a good pick. And then it’s like wtf did you draft him for? Him and Pat could be such a lethal threat in different formations.

Same here. I tracked him all draft. He had a visit with the Steelers before draft. Kind of expected him to go late second and didn’t expect we’d get him but I hoped and couldn’t believe he fell to use. Bigger than gronk, faster than gronk, hands the size of trash can lids(biggest ever measured for a tight end). More agile than gronk.

Both RBs on the field at the same time when it’s 3rd and 4 or 5.

Diontae and GP making tough catches which make Kenny look good even if the pass isnt 100% accurate or on time.

    More play action.

Passes over the middle. Play-action (fake a run then throw it, Kenny was good at that in college and has better ratings paying in play-action than normal passing plays. If the tight ends get involved.

To me those are the simplest things you can look for. It’s also what everyone has screamed about Canada/Pickett not doing.

I’ll also be watching if they use less motion of receivers before the snap, if Kenny seems to signal more before the snap and if he generally seems more willing/is allowed to just let it rip, throw some harder passes in tighter windows, pushing more downfield. Was he forced to pay conservatively in Canada’s system or is he just willing to pull the trigger.

As an extra, on the other side of the football, it’ll be interesting to see how all these new inside linebackers play.

Of course the same playbook but more shots earlier on in the game which will compliment the run game, more Warren, and more play action passes. I think Kenny goes for atleast 200 tomorrow!

For tomorrow? I want to see the details be fixed. We, more than likely, won’t be able to add/adjust much to our playbook but we sure as hell can fine tune what we already have and are good at.

On a Macro scale I’d like to see more PA incorporated and motion/free releases to help our guys win early. Have the scheme give KP answers before the ball is snapped. It’s something that we do not have or decide not to do. Have KP be coached to recognize those answers and make quick correct reads in rhythm. That’s where coaching/scheme has failed KP.

KP has got to be accurate with those throws but, imo, that starts with the OL. They need to get better at blocking consistently up the middle. It needs to be emphasized early in the game because KP needs to settle in before he gets rattled by pressure. When he is rattled early his clock starts ticking too fast and he rushes his throws, leaves the pocket, and rushes his reads.

    Will we pass under center?

Will WRs and QBs know what the other is doing?

Will we have a better passing game than one led by a backup with little in game experience?

Will the run offense continue to be strong to very strong (against a Bengals run D that hasn’t looked great).

Will the middle of the defense be able to defend the pass?

Can we still do something on defense when they run the quick passing game?

Sustained drives, especially in the first 3 quarters. It may not end In TD or a FG but at least show me that this offense can march down the field.

Passes over the middle. 3rd downs from 5 yards or less. Progress with Kenny. And watchable football.
