Player salaries are so inflated that even if the player performs it’s probably not worth it, but some players have incredible agents which has lead to some insane signings.

Swordart to TSM for 6 mil still boggles my mind. No matter what angle you look at it, it makes no sense, except if someone was intentionally trying to sink the org.

TL Pyosik is another more recent one. Not nearly egregious but idk how there are people that get paid to make decisions like these.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if HLE’s owners don’t watch any League of Legends. They’re actually one of the richest orgs but year after year they put together the most frustrating rosters.

Hachani to Vitality was a pretty rough signing

I hated the move at the time and after but in no way is a chance on a rookie anywhere near as bad as superstar booming

Ryoma had already been playing for like 3 years and had just played at MSI when 100T picked him up, he was not a rookie

That’s the thing. He wasn’t a rookie. He was a known quantity that sucked that they picked up and had to bench.

He was coming to NA from OCE and by riots standard was a rookie.

I still think they should have picked up Damonte there.

TSM SwordArt is the worst in terms of mind-boggling expenditure.

If anyone needs proof that the LCS organisations had no clue what they were doing with their finances, it’s that deal.

There are a lot of good and bad signings, but 6.2 million for a player nobody else wanted is the type of shit that happens when a great many people in a decision-making process are all completely ignorant.

It’s followed by whoever signed the deal for the FTX sponsorship.

On top of the SA deal being terrible, they didn’t have it finalized in time and DL left. It was a bad deal and an even worse timeframe that it got completed on.

I perma say SwordArt when this question is asked, there might be players that disappointed more (CLG Crown, FLY VicLA, etc…) but even with those imports it made sense on why you would take a chance on them. With SwordArt there was close to nothing I saw that would ever warrant the price tag (It’s actually 2.5x KERIA’s curren salary). Even Pyosik to TL had moments such as Summer playoffs or his performance at Worlds but SwordArt was just ass the whole time he was in NA.

I‘ll throw the VIT signings of the last 2-3 years in the ring. I know its not really fitting to the question but having one top-tier roster after another and never beeing able to make it work makes me wonder if the VIT coaching staff is the worst signing deal ever haha

Not exactly the worst, but I’m surprised Effort is still in the league after his time on T1. Guy had Wolf and Mata as mentors and still showed no growth as a player.

Why tl pyosik would be bad? He played good in tl and isnt a bad jungler. Not the top tier one but not even a low tier one. They signed him into kt now

TSM dropping Doublelift Biofrost for Zven Mithy.

No disrespect to Zven since he has had a pretty successful career in NA, but TSM hasn’t won a single split without Doublelift since that move.

    Any and every super team

They always fail because there aren’t enough resources for 5 players.

Teams need to take in and recognize role players are just as valuable

TL Pyosik is another more recent one

Sorry but this just shows you have no clue what you’re talking about. Pyosik literally JUST won worlds and TL apparently got him for cheap since he couldn’t find a spot on an LCK team. If you can snag a current world champ for cheap then you do it no questions asked.

Have I ever told you the story of Darth CLG Seraph The Wise? He was a top laner so powerful, that during a bootcamp after getting 1v2, he told his jungles to “never come top again.”

Didn’t Perkz go to C9 from like 2.7m per year with a 5m buyout from G2. It was nuts and his play was pretty up and down in NA

Perkz does not seem like the type to not care and steal a paycheck but it does really suprise me that even if extremely overpriced they didn’t dominate with perkz. He was mechanically more skilled than any lcs mid and a leader in game.
