I was reading over the patch notes and saw the nerfs/buffs to Maestro, and I couldn’t help but notice that Ubisoft seems to have no idea about the mechanics of some of their own creations.
Now, I feel like the devs get enough hate, so I’ll say that this is a post meant to constructively criticize the way they’ve recently approached balance, as Maestro isn’t the only Operator stuck in balance limbo.
What I really mean is that the balance changes to Maestro demonstrate to me that they have no idea of what actually affects Maestro’s playrate. Maestro did NOT need another nerf, and giving him a third camera will not compensate for this issue, given that his camera amount was never the issue to begin with.
Maestro’s cameras are simply too vulnerable, and giving them yet another counter in the form of Ash and Kali is simply another reason not to run his cameras, as, at this point, it’s almost not worth deploying them, which ruins the point of the Operator. Giving him another vulnerable camera isn’t going to solve the issue, but rather make playing him feel like more of a chore.
Simply put, Brava is already such a hard counter to Maestro. When attackers see one, they almost always bring a Brava because using her to counter him is so easy, especially against uncoordinated teams, which is what you’ll play with most of the time in your average remakes lobby. I’m not suggesting that Maestro cams need to be indestructible, I’m just suggesting that he needs something that’ll make his cameras worth using. Maybe a Brava nerf, I’m not sure. But at least don’t nerf him again. That definitely isn’t the answer.
People gotta stop playing evil eyes as an anchor and more of utility clear/wall denial. Having 3 cams is an amazing buff which will help distribute placements. You can now deny 2 separate walls and have just one cam in site for worst case scenario. In maps where obj has to be reached by going inside the building and breaching a wall(Oregon, bedroom) you can play a cam in closet to deny ace/thermite charges and basically win your team the round since they will have to rotate to attic and use their last charge while your last cam sits in dorms watching big window or sound call for white
Deny walls? You realize most of the most important walls worth denying are exterior walls, right?
Not every site is connected to the outside needing to breach a reinforcement for example, Oregon every single site, chalet 3/4 sites, kafe all sites, bank all sites, theme all sites, villa all sites. These are all maps you can use maestro really well to deny the wall being breached while keeping evil eye invulnerable.
Chalet snow mobile, consulate garage and very few others are areas where he won’t perform as well. But if you’re tryna deny wine then he works just as great due to trench walls being high value too. So your point is still bad about him not needing another cam to get destroyed easily
Right, but most of those Maestro cams can be easily flushed out by a Brava or a GONNE-6, which would only require you to peek for a second, given that it’s perfectly accurate from the hip. A third cam helps, yes, as it’s more to destroy, but it still doesn’t fix Maestro’s Achilles heel, which is just the over representation of ways to stop his gadget.
That would be a lot of util for one device. Most people don’t realize there’s a maestro protecting a wall cause it can be silent when ace or therm is going off and at that point it’s too late. He is gonna be super strong now with a 3rd cam if its goal is to protect a wall
“Super strong” is a huge oversell, considering that you could just roam to protect interior walls, and waste attacker time, something you should be doing anyways. Castle can also be used to lock down these areas, as can Azami. Maestro, still, is subpar at doing this compared to other Operators. Besides, what happens when the cam is hacked? Now they have the wall and something to protect it with.
