Over the past year I’ve been losing interest in playing anything whatsoever, everything I’ve touched I almost drop instantly or play very little.
I have took many breaks, I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I’m willing to give trying the deck a shot to see if I can find some spark of enjoyment again. Has anyone formed a love for gaming again after being out of touch with it for a long time?
I used to have a ginormous gaming collection, every console I ever wanted, every game and some rare ones at that. (Earthbound, Persona 3 portable, etc.) I got nauseated at the collection, eventually for personal reasons, and decided to sell the entire thing, I quit my job at a game store at the time and quit gaming altogether. I felt like a complete failure in a way. But eventually, my friend got me into the deck, I never even realized that this was the dream system I always wanted as a kid. The system that can do anything for the most part and is a hybrid. This is all I have now that I consistently use whenever I can game these days and I am so much more happier whenever I get to play now than I was when I had everything I ever wanted at the time.
Yes. About 40 games completed this year vs just a couple in recent years.
Yeh.
I’m playing death stranding.
I have literally no idea what I’m doing, how to do it, or what’s going on.
I love it.
how it performs on deck? what fps nd on what settings
Started playing more indies, recently fell in love with cult of the lamb. If we consider that indie
I would game sooo much more if this thing has first party windows support.
I phased out consoles long ago and moved into PCs but I hadn’t played a game in honestly over 2.5 years on anything but my phone I did get an app I liked to kill time. I just ordered a Deck and subsequently setup my downloads for various emulators and wow got a SD to fill up, and knocked out some of the steam sale with like 9 games so I’m ready to let the love flow for this thing. So excited to get it on Monday/Tuesday when it arrives.
It’s the other way round. Now I am spending more time tweaking software, looking for deals on hardware upgrades, adjusting game settings and so on. For me, gamepass got me to play so many games that I had in my backlog.
Was on the same boat, was considering and having doubts getting it but eventually I said fk it let’s give it a shot.
It was a good decision, I am back into gaming, enjoying myself to the fullest.
It’s so convenient you can literally snatch and turn the deck on while you’re laying on a couch under a blanket while still being near your gf that it sheds a totally different light on gaming.
No regrets. :)
I’ve played more indie/lower budget games cuz of the deck. Great for portable mode. On my PC I tend to play higher budget games.
I was a Switch player for years, love handheld gaming. I like to have a movie or something on the tv in the background instead. After 2 years of religiously playing Animal Crossing New Horizons I sort of just ran out of things to do. No game really captured me. When Hogwarts Legacy was coming out I was super hyped for it, but just didn’t want to play it on Switch so I bought a Steam Deck just for the game. I really enjoyed the game, but more than that I finally was excited about gaming again. The Deck really opened me up to a ton of games I couldn’t play handheld before. Always seem to have something to play these days.
Playing Shadow Tactics Aiko’s Choice. Also just finished Gordian Quest.
I’m in a similar position and bought the SD OLED hoping for the same thing.
I stopped gaming for awhile due to lack of time, but now that I have more free time I only play phone games and watch anime. Just have very little desire to play.
Today my deck came in though and I installed Black Mesa to test it out before going to bed. I ended up playing for two hours! It’s still too early to tell, but really happy to continue playing through and see what this thing can do
I am one of the many people that has been hit with the fatigue of working a full time a job in which prior to that I would game probably 8 - 10 hours and I considered that a light day. Handhelds have brought me back as I literally just need the laziest and quickest way to pick up a game. Within a year I have two switches two decks and an ROG Ally. Send help.
Maybe. My issues is I’m super aware of repetitive game mechanics or bad storylines. Once I feel the game has that I lose interest very quickly. Also, in general I find games too long these days.
That said I played through FF7 Remake on the deck, and some of its repetitive parts I did while on the toilet thanks to the deck. So that’s one game that I finished which I would have otherwise dropped. The pick up for 15min nature of the deck is why I got through it. There’s just no way I’d sit down for 1-2hrs on my pc to play it.
It’s worth a try I would say. Gaming is fun, and maybe having a handheld you can game in in bed vs in the couch will be a better experience for you.
