In the last few weeks I noticed a lot of content creators and community posts throwing hate at Mercy. Identifying her as a problem in multitude of ways. Particularly, damage boosting comes up a lot. Giving Widow her old range back, etc.
But, personally, I find one support or better said ability more tilting: Suzu.
And while Mercy has to have a very competent DPS on the team to get proper value from damage boost. That also means that the enemy team is investing 40% of their resources to secure the kills.
While Suzu can easily negate anything and everything no matter how many resources you pour into securing your win. Specifically, when you coordinate and combine ultimates. Especially then it feels more than unfair when a basic ability can neutralize those efforts.
I admit that these days, I play Sombra most often not for damage or kills. Because let’s be honest, Sombra is not the best pick for any of that. But, she’s really good keeping Suzu on cooldown. Which, I admit, won me some games we would’ve lost most likely otherwise.
And while LW’s pull is another “get out of jail free” ability, at least that applies to one single target. While Suzu not only cleanses, but also grants immunity to any CC or damage for a short period of time while simultaneously provides minor healing.
And, while cleanse is annoying when you use an Ult (Sombra or Illiari). The most tilting part for me is the immunity to damage. I simply can’t make sense in how that is OK
Bless you. If only you would’ve read the whole post before jumping into commenting. You may have found it that this is exactly what I do. I force the Suzu CD as much as I can. Which became a win condition in some comps.
And while every hero has strengths and weaknesses. All abilities in OW1 had a counterplay or cancel. Even ults. Suzu doesn’t.
Furthermore, Suzu, not simply cleanses all negative events and makes you immune to all CC and damage effects for a brief period of time. By that, it can deny every other ability’s effectiveness. Including ults. Basically, as if it canceled it. But also applicable for a multitude of effects all at once. For example: purple, stunned and burning. Those are the cooldowns invested by enemy team to ensure the kill. All of them negated with only one cooldown. And beside that, the target gets simultaneously healed and becomes immune long enough to recover.
Yeah, just plan for that. Consider that very few tanks can bait Suzu given Kiri’s excellent mobility abilities.
suzu is the support counterplay. Do you really want supports to just, not have powerful abilities?
You can argue up and down about the balance of support, but removing their ability to have a meaningful impact on the game outside of simply healbotting is NOT the way to balance the game.
