He had 7 carries for 25 yards. 1 carry was the fumble:

  1. 1st and 10. Shotgun inside zone - run up the right A gap. Line blocked well but Conklin missed his block on Bradley Chubb. Breece stopped for a second and it allowed Chubb to tackle him from the left side. If he just ran forward, it’s 3-4 yards. Instead no gain.

  2. 2nd and 10. Toss right. Great blocks by Ruckert and Randall Cobb (LOL). However, Max Mitchell misses his block and the run goes for only 7 yards. This could have been 15+ yards if Mitchell made his block.

  3. 2nd and 10. Outside zone run to the right. Guess who, Max Mitchell gets beat and Phillips comes around the end and tackles Hall. Loss of 2.

  4. 2nd and 10 - right after Boyle almost got safetied. Run through the right side b gap. Dolphins were running a stunt with Wilkins and 98? Not sure. Tippman falls over though and 98 gets through which slows down Hall for no gain. This one’s on Tippman.

  5. 1st and 10 - toss right. Hall fumbles. This one’s 100% on Hall.

  6. 1st and 10 - inside zone run I believe? Really good blocks by Warren. Hall bounces it outside for 11 yards. Great job by Hall, Warren, and Bawden amongst others.

  7. 1st and 10 - inside zone run to the right. Middle LB shoots through. Hall makes a nice hesitation move to go through the c gap. 4 yard gain.

  8. 1st and 5 - outside zone run left from shotgun. Good blocking. Hall just a tad slow to get through the hole. Still a 4 yard carry.

Aside from the 1st play and the fumble. I don’t really see what Saleh is talking about. Let’s get someone better than Max Mitchell please.

    I appreciate this post weekly.

You don’t see someone run through every rush attempt.

I keep saying every week the run games impotence is as problematic as anything on our offense.

Also, I’m not sure what folks saw in Mitchell beyond literally just hope. He’s been a big problem for both years— granted, the plan in both cases was not for him to play.

Yeah he’s a long term developmental piece. He was the guy who got destroyed by Jermaine Johnson in the senior bowl practices which helped to make JJ a first round pick. Mitchell is long, nimble for his size, and seems to be a good locker room guy but he needs at least 2 more years of strength training.
