Hello everyone!
So, I bought a second copy of Java (via a Microsoft account so before you say anything, no this is not a migration issue). I’m trying to set my in-game name to “Splixson”, which is the name of a species of aliens from a show. The whole reason I bought the account was so I could have that username, which everywhere says is available.
However, when I try to set it in the launcher, it says it’s taken. And when I try to set it on the website, it says it’s offensive, even though word safety checking websites all say the word is safe and not offensive. Anyone able to help with this at all?
I tried contacting the support team, but they said they can’t help with Java issues.
So only “Sons” can be “Splix” ???
This is hella offensive, W Mojang.
I am waiting for them to notice my name. I have little doubt I will be forced to change it once they do. :( Kind of gate that, it is so hard to find a name that doesn’t have a string of numbers after it.
Ayo don’t go posting that name here! Do you want to get CANCELLED OR DOXXED??? Jokes aside, probably the Scunthorpe problem with some weird unknown profanity deep in their profanity list… Sucks to witness, but nothing to do about other than use another name…
Maybe it sounds like the word sex or it could be a glitch
My best guess is: The name is taken, but it is taken by a person who hasn’t migrated their account to a Microsoft account, and thus they are still registered as a mojang account. Since Minecraft killed off Mojang accounts, I guess this is still in their database until around 2025, when they actually start terminating the Mojang accounts. And the reason why you don’t see it taken on Namemc and other Minecraft name generators is that they don’t use the Mojang API anymore due to Minecraft shutting it down, thus leaving those websites to only show Microsoft migrated account names. Idk though, just a probable theory.
