I’m having trouble getting a docking station to work. I’ll list all of the components that I know as well as work around arounds I’ve tried but if I leave anything out let me know and I’ll add it in.

Dell dock station. Uses thunderbolt usbc (not sure if TB3 or TB4) I have a Corsair keyboard and mouse plugged in with 2 MSI monitors (1 hdmi 1 display port) It works perfectly fine with my work laptop (Dell)

My issue is when I want to switch it over to my gaming PC (purchased from NZXT) I get power to my mouse and keyboard but not my monitors. I’m not sure if my gaming pc has thunderbolt port or regular USB C

I looked up as much as I could and read that usbc ports should be compatible with thunderbolt ports and that the dell dock station is universal. My USB C ports on my PC work for everything else that I’ve tried (smaller things like my phone charger) is it just because my PC doesn’t have thunderbolt?

    That will certainly matter, yes.

    • USB-C

    • USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode

    • Thunderbolt 3 or Thundbolt 4

… are all different specifications and chipsets (typically).

The Hardware, Drivers, BIOS & Firmware, etc… are all factors in that equation.
