So figure I’m tipsy and as a break from work tonight I’d make a post about where we are and what’s next and all that. Seems like there’s a lot of fighting on tanking vs non-tanking and I hate seeing that plus the media drama I thought Daboll did well to diffuse.

  1. We’re not making the playoffs. That doesn’t mean every player isn’t going to give their all and work their ass off every game trying to win every time. And every coach too. Of course they are because their next contracts all depend on it. Some fans want to win and some fans want to lose out. I respect both opinions and let’s just chill with the infighting.

I personally can’t see this group winning more than one more but I’d be proud of their effort if they proved me wrong. I think we have tons of holes left by prior GMs and others but I respect the hell out of fans wanting to win every game and if it hurts our draft pick so be it, that’s far from the only thing that matters this offseason anyways.

  1. We can finally fix our offensive line. Or at least get close to fixing it. My personal solution would be praying Sherrone Moore wants to leave Michigan to be our OC. I believe an OC job in the NFL with the raise that comes with it and being next in line for an NFL job if you do well is hard to turn down even for Michigan’s OC. He’s a perfect fit as a guy who started coaching their O line and has numerous top lines he assembled. And he’s done well as a coach stepping in for Harbaugh when he was suspended. Overpay him if you have to, it won’t hurt the cap.

  2. Trust Shoen. I’d love to somehow flip our first this year and next year for MHJ and then find a QB in round two but lots depends on where we end in the draft. Ultimately I think this past draft class is looking good and the only question mark is a center who should be good but JMS having a horrible line coach won’t help him as a rookie facing so many top defenses. No matter what it was a smart pick IMO with Banks and Hyatt looking great too. And add in AT and Sexy Dexy extensions, Shoen has earned the trust.

  3. Rest AT and others who are in our long-term plans and have serious injury concerns. I get Daboll running them all out there since that’s a coaches mentality and I don’t fault him for that. But anyone who’s important long-term with an injury that could worsen and limit their long-term potential should not be allowed to play, period.

  4. Tyrod is a backup when he returns. The offense today was horrible and likely will be most weeks going forward. We scored 10 points and all 10 setup from INTs with starting field position in FG range. However, DeVito has shown he could be a solid backup with some of his play so let’s see his growth. Tyrod is gone after this year. His contract expires and if he gets injured we’re hurting him. He’s a great veteran backup teams like the Jets would love to have. Let him rest and get his next payday.

That’s all for this rant but just some thoughts on the season, going forward and some of the drama. As always, GO BIG BLUE!
