Just rewatched the condensed version on NFL+, not the all-22 so I don’t know how routes developed

  1. Refs called it pretty fair first half and then absolutely bailed the Jags out in the 2nd half. Phantom pass interference, holding, missed horse collar towards the end of the game. We all saw it. I’m forgetting when Tank’s 2 stolen catches were, but also BS.

  2. Blocking overall was terrible. Stroud constantly had his blockers pushed back into his lap. Tons of scrambling and unable to step up. Pocket was most of the time collapsing or very ugly. Howard prior to the injury was already blocking terribly. Woods, Collins, Beck all missed blocks. Stroud was asked to do a lot today with awful blocking that couldn’t get the run going either.

  3. Originally thought the 2 sacks Stroud took were rookie sacks but upon rewatch I wouldn’t exactly put it on him. All game, he had to hold the ball to make plays. On the first big sack, he got away from the first sack, but Tunsil’s man quickly came running after from the other side and took him down. On the second major sack they were unable to recover from, pocket quickly collapsed, Tunsil’s man grabs Stroud by the collar, pulls him down enough to have a second guy come through and finish the sack.

  4. I’m not sure what the deal was but play design may have been a problem. Pocket was constantly collapsing and CJ had to scramble but routes seemed to take to long to develop maybe. Then on the few plays the pocket was actually clean, no one could get open? The 3rd/4th and 1 plays were odd. Atleast throw in a quick slant by a receiver? The miss to Schultz shows everyone running moderately deep. Like what?? Also thinking Slowik’s tendencies are also being discovered. Play action and screens were well played minus one big play from Singletary.

  5. Defense played a good game outside of the ref’s killing them. They gave up a few chunk plays and Lawrence had a clean pocket here and there, but we’re not a top 5 D that will wreck every play.

The all-22 will show more for sure. The post game show said Jags played a ton of zone and guys were open on most plays. CJ didn’t seem to have that anticipation he usually plays with.

Juice absolutely balled out at LG when he got in. Most replays showed him stoning his man at the LOS on pass plays. Again I want to see the all-22 to confirm this.

We HAVE to start out better next week.
