Phantom PI call here moved Jags into FG territory, giving them an extra 3 points.
Even if you take away the Texans TD drive that resulted from the uncalled PI when Stingley got the INT, these examples are at least a 15 point swing against the Texans. Get rid of the 7 points from that drive and it’s still an 8 point swing at minimum in a game we only lost by 3. Texans win this game if we had competent officiating. Fuck the Jags!
You’re a little off on that last one. They ruled him down at the 39, spotted it at the 39 for the 3rd down play (pass-incomplete), then RE-spotted it to the 40 for the kick. From ESPN’s official play-by-play:
2nd & 19 at JAX 46 (1:10 - 4th) (Shotgun) C.Stroud pass short middle to N.Collins to JAX 39 for 7 yards (F.Oluokun). 3rd & 12 at JAX 39
(0:47 - 4th) (No Huddle, Shotgun) C.Stroud pass incomplete short left to D.Singletary [K.Chaisson].
Kick missed by a foot. How can they spot us a yard back from where the last down was when it was just an incompletion? Still in the refs.
It’s a great question, and one that will never get answered or even addressed moving forward. We get to bitch about it, but Goodell don’t give a fuck.
