So I really enjoyed watching Worlds this year and thought the Swiss format was refreshing. What ended up being somewhat less than stellar was the fortification of the “Meta” picks and bans that developed across the tournament.
These pros have such a deep pool of champions that don’t see the light of day because it doesn’t fit the try hard meta.
What if the format changed. What if let’s say in a best of 5, when a team wins a game, the 5 champions that they used to get the win get fully removed for the available pick/ban pool for the rest of the series. This would force teams to have:
1: A deep champion pool across their respective roles. 2: Adaptive strategies to form when you start to get to game 2 and 3 of a series and key meta champions are off the table. 3. Fans get to see a wider variety of the current 166 champions in the game played by the best in the world
Just my two cents 👀 think this kinda format would make a lot of “Ahhhh” champion picks and excitement in games.

Pros are forced to play certain picks because that is what is optimal for their competitive games.
And the reason that is the case is because if start making champions viable in pro play, prepare to hear 1milion complaints every day from low elo players.
Good luck making Zed viable in pro play (which means buffing him a LOT) and then hearing 95% of your playerbase complaining.
That’s why you always see the 20 same champs in pro.
