Raiders are rolling with an interim Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, a 4th round rookie QB, and still hanging in there with top tier teams.

They have shown a lot of progress since Mcdaniels was fired, but we have to assume they are still using a majority of his playbook.

The losses haven’t been blow outs, and actually look competitive since AP has taken over.

I get the negativity, but just look at it realistically for a second. I’m not 100% sold on AOC at QB, but he still is making progress. I’m all for drafting a QB in the 1st round and letting them battle it out for the starting spot.

Just my thoughts. When the Chiefs tied it up 14-14 at halftime, I knew it was going to be a struggle to win the game. They’re SB champs with a generational QB and HoF HC. At least it wasn’t a completely embarrassing loss. (Like the Bears game.)

I knew it was going to be a struggle when we were up 14-0 lol.

We’re doing well for what’s been going on this season. But the 2nd half yesterday…idk exactly but the best thing I can come up with is the lack of fire.

Yeah, and Maxx & Kolton not 100% two of the biggest lineman on both sides of the ball. And yeah, I don’t think I’ve felt comfortable with a Raiders lead in a game in many many years, sadly lol.

The team is still the same team. AP has made it a team the players want to show up for but their strengths are still their strengths and their weaknesses are still their weaknesses. Personally I’m excited to see AP and AO4 develop as coach and qb and the defense develop into a solid and consistent force.

Principal needs now are offensive line and depth on defense, not quarterback (except for backup). AO4 is the qb now and for the next couple seasons barring injury. This should be non-controversial. And AP should get his contract. If I was in charge he’d have it already.

We have a foundation that can be built upon if we don’t blow it all up again this offseason. If we do blow it all up again then we’re back to square one and possibly/probably worse off.

At this point its all academic. We already fired our HC, we dont have any other realistic long-term options at QB. So we’re rolling with AP+AOC, hell or high water, through the end of the year.

That means we’re going to see a full body of work on them both before any decisions are made. There is zero point to trying to make any kind of final decisions on them already. That’s a conversation for January.

All we really need to do now is look at the trajectory we’re going in. Right now its steadily improving, which is what you’d want to see at this point. Still a lot of mistakes at QB and bad coaching decisions, but all that needs to happen is those get less and less egregious each week, and they are. AOC’s numbers are good, he’s building rapport with his receivers, and seeing the field better and better. AP is learning how to make adjustments, manage the clock (still lots of room for improvement there), and strike the right balance of aggression and prudence, as the game situation dictates.

Unless we start backsliding and getting blown out and thoroughly outplayed, I dont think there’s a realistic complaint about their production right now

The bye week is going to be a big indicator of how the coaching staff reacts, too. We know he’s going to rally the troops, but we’ll see how much better the team looks with an extra week to prep for MIN.

Not to mention KC has had the same roster and same coaching staff for like 5 years. Those guys work well with each other

Made this comment elsewhere, gonna drop it here too:

    I just ran the numbers.

In the five seasons/10 games since Mahomes became QB1, not counting last night, the Raiders have lost to the chiefs 9 times by an average of 16.9 points. Only 3 of those losses have been what you’d call “One Possession”:

Here are the combined margins of victory per season

    2018 - 39 total points

    2019 - 49 total points

2020 - -4 total points (the only season with a win)

    2021 - 66 total points

    2022 - 19 total points

I don’t understand why people want to burn everything down when last night was technically better than our historical average against Mahomes, and it was done with a rookie QB, OC, and Head Coach.

Gruden & Carr only did better than last night’s margin twice in 6 games. Bissacia and Carr didn’t beat that margin in either of their 2 games. McDaniels and Carr had 1 of 2 games better than that margin.

Why is this sub holding AP & AOC to a much higher standard than the “Glory Days” of getting stomped by 27-39 points???

No idea why they expect much more out of AOC/AP. It’s weird. And interesting statistics!
